Building Materials and Construction Technology
schlump: The little experience I have is that there are some variations depending on how it is applied (Festfloor in my case). My impression is that the less filling, the more even it becomes, and the less sanding, the more even it becomes. To minimize the above, it is important that the substrate is even. To achieve a completely homogeneous surface like self-leveling compound/industrial floor, I have no
karlmb: [citat] Measure the moisture content in the wall during times other than these warm months. (Now there will be condensation in all stone constructions, so it's misleading to draw conclusions) If it's dry and nice during the winter, it's probably okay, but otherwise you have to build with consideration to the moisture that comes through the construction. It's possible and doesn't have to cost much
PHPersson: [citat] One example is heat pumps, I've dealt with a few, IVT geothermal, Nibe geothermal, CTC air/water. All of them have such bad software in the control systems that it's embarrassing. I really don't understand how they can make such poor products. Then the quality is terrible, especially IVT… completely finished after 10 years. Rust and so on. With today's prices, I wonder if it isn't
nikasp: Yes, 45 has not been an option at all. Maybe building a toilet in the torp with 45 where every centimeter counts and a small and low wall but not at home in the villa.
Kardan79: Hello! I am in the process of restoring a larger bedroom with a walk-in closet, after installing mechanically ventilated subflooring. We had to remove the partition wall (between the sleeping area and the closet), and have now put up a new one. However, I am unsure how to minimize the risk of cracking in the inner corner where the new partition wall meets the outer wall. It's an old wooden house
Umma01: Thank you for your input! We need to get some new tools, it seems. : )
Anonymiserad 398729: Anyone who has done something similar and has experiences?
Zebehn: [citat] Good! I won't make things more complicated than that. 👌🏼
Installation: [citat] It's used for that too. Or as a fastening for roof safety through raw wood sheathing and in larger hollow block or in hollow core slabs.
snikanor: Hehe, nah it's more about it being easier to calculate since there are datasheets/specifications for those things. I assume it's harder to calculate ground bearing capacity as it depends on so many parameters. By the way, it is silt/clay. Sounds anyway like what I wrote at the end of post #3, that I probably needed to realize how much 3.5kN/m2 or 350kg per sqm really is. We won't have any hot
Dan1891: [citat] No, it's probably not going to collapse right now...
Joel H: I'm going crazy with my garage walls. And since I know very little about anything that requires handiwork, I get lost pretty quickly and gratefully accept beginner advice. My first assumption was that it's concrete. But it's easy to drill into the walls even with a regular screwdriver (Makita DDF482), so I think maybe it's not concrete after all. My second thought was lightweight concrete, but it
Antwerpen: [citat] We have a district heating boiler - water-radiated radiators upstairs and water-radiated floor heating in the basement. Radiator in the laundry room. Can you just connect a small mechanical exhaust vent in the laundry room and a couple of supply vents around in the basement? Like this one:
Majaji44: What was the solution? I have a garage roof that does have a slope but has a wooden decking on top. Now it has started leaking into the garage. So I need to solve it somehow, new felt roof, Mapei's products, gummiduk?
BirgitS: Sure, wood materials and other things can smell, but it's good to rule out simpler issues like poor ventilation before you start tearing down the walls. ;)
Sommarstugelivet: What is recommended instead of corners on a deck staircase? Let the boards run all the way out?
Anonymiserad 405730: [citat] Well, I don't know if I agree. I'm including a picture where you see a deck where we laid the large area before the weekend and the greener part was laid on the Monday after the weekend, so you see how much the part that was out over the weekend in the sun has faded. It fades really quickly in the sun...
Friteradräka: I have a project started that we're having some trouble getting around to finishing. I'm a novice when it comes to construction, but I want to learn and do as much as possible myself where it's feasible. An attic space wall needs to be demolished; the wall is not load-bearing. The plan is to build a new wall that follows the roof's slope to gain more space in the room. I need tips on the workflow
AG A: It's completely impossible to answer without construction drawings. However, you can often make educated guesses based on other types of drawings as well. But, since your neighbor has a beam there, it's reasonable to believe that the wall is load-bearing. The beam has been put in place when the wall was removed. So, there's a beam instead of a wall. It's not something that sits in walls.
Frågan: I am building a carport with a small storage room and need to reinforce the carport section. In other places, I have used perforated tape from Joma 1.5x20 mm, but in the roof, for aesthetic reasons, I would like it to look a bit nicer. I was thinking of using stainless steel cable and turnbuckle. Planning a cross in the roof, but it would only be attached to the roof truss nearest to the storage
Friteradräka: [citat] It ended up according to the mason's style. Don't know what would have been most efficient but it turned out nice anyway.
MRLINDELL: [citat] I have been in contact with Byggmax. They require you to fill out a link with about 50 details that hardly relate to the floor or installation at all. You have to log in with bank-id and get a reference/case number. Tried to get in touch again. But Byggmax hasn't responded. "They are investigating the issue..." Now I'm done shopping at Byggmax. They completely ignore complaints.
boojy: Hi, how long do you have to wait after priming before starting to apply plaster, you think?
MrJay: It became Fermacell fibergips, seems to suit the purpose better.
Spannen: [citat] No building permit is needed. I initially considered ordering trusses, but I was foolishly late, and everyone is on vacation now, so it seems delivery won't be possible until after week 35 :( To meet my plan of at least having the frame ready during vacation, I'll have to build them myself. I've now received some feedback from various sources (carpenters, building suppliers, etc.) who are
Matti_75: Drill holes in a plywood in the pattern you desire. Screw the threaded rods with nuts and washers on both sides. Secure it in the correct position in the footing and cast. Then unscrew the plywood and attach the posts.
Agi: How did the house turn out? I saw that you were building with thermomur too! Exciting!
Fredrik_1976: [citat] Should the underlay felt be laid in the same way with an upturn on the wall and in width?
