Hello! How can we remove this cement lump that is placed on top of the last step of the stairs? Our rotten decking was placed on top of the last step, and a grate for scraping shoes was embedded in the lump. We're going to build a new deck now but don't want to have to raise the level of the deck because of the cement lump. We've tried with a crowbar, but a part of the outermost tip of the stairs disappeared, and we've also tried with a drill and hammer. Several hours later, there's still an awful lot left.

  • Concrete lump on a staircase step with exposed rebar, surrounded by debris, causing issues for replacing wooden decking above the step.
Is the goal to remove the elevation so that the bottom step becomes level? It looks like it is cast in one piece. So it won't be an easy task. You can rent a demolition hammer. If you have a rotary hammer that can hammer without rotating, it can also be used with a chisel. But there will be more impact with a proper demolition hammer.

I would probably have tried with an angle grinder and the correct grinding/cutting disc.

It's just a matter of removing it with a bilmaskin.
The surfaces that are visible despite the decking can be repaired if necessary with bruk.
No complications 👍

Thank you for your input! We need to get some new tools, it seems. : )
