I'm going crazy with my garage walls. And since I know very little about anything that requires handiwork, I get lost pretty quickly and gratefully accept beginner advice.

My first assumption was that it's concrete. But it's easy to drill into the walls even with a regular screwdriver (Makita DDF482), so I think maybe it's not concrete after all.

My second thought was lightweight concrete, but it doesn't look porous in the holes, and I can't get a lightweight concrete screw in no matter how much I try. I've tested it in several places. I'm attaching a picture of what it looks like where I've tried, though I'm not sure if it helps at all.

The inspection report states "Frame, material: Lightweight concrete (Siporex) / Concrete / Wood" but it doesn't specify what's where. According to the original drawing, it's "masonry," but that can mean anything, and the garage doesn't look like the original drawing so it might have changed a lot in practice. The house was built in 1976, so at least I avoid blue concrete.

My dilemma is that I want to securely attach shelves and have no idea what kind of fastening I should use. Ideally, I would use what's most suitable for the purpose. Otherwise, maybe a strong universal plug would work, like Fischer plugs that should work regardless of the material?
