Drilling for patio door in brick house

Planning to open up for a patio door in a window in our brick villa with facade brick. The villa is from the 1930s and the brick from the 1960s. Previously it was plastered and the wall is therefore quite thick, about 40 cm.
Our mason, who we will hire to build a nice edge around the door, says we don't need a company to cut the hole below the window but that it's enough to knock away the facade brick and demolish on the inside. Which he has offered to do. Only on the outside though. We will have to demolish on the inside ourselves or let the carpenter do it. The house has a brick structure.
Someone else says that we do need a drilling company to cut the hole.
Is there someone wise who can weigh in on which option to go with?

You should probably trust your bricklayer, otherwise, you should probably replace them.

It ended up according to the mason's style. Don't know what would have been most efficient but it turned out nice anyway.Friteradräka said:

Someone else says we do indeed need a drilling company to cut the hole.
Is there anyone wise who can brainstorm on which line we should go with?
