Building Materials and Construction Technology
Ludde Jakobsson: [citat] I've done it :) and I had to clean up after myself too.
Dilato: You can put legs on everything...and then all your problems with weight and wall quality disappear.
Jonatan79: [citat] Ok, I see. I’m guessing that the vent in the wall are inactive.
MortenD: Hello again, thanks as always to those who want to solve a question. I need to build a storage attached to the cabin. I have ordered a storage from baseco. There will be a hydrofor and water filter in the storage. Therefore, I need to run pipes through the storage floor. Are there any plumbing rings or similar that I should look for in the right diameter? How would you best solve such a task? I
Svent: The house from 1968 has a cast staircase to the entrance with stone as decoration on the surface layer. Damage has occurred at the reinforcement over the years. Hope the pictures explain. How should I proceed to tidy it up?
jekel1: [citat] Thanks for the reply! Yes, I think you're right. The stairs are anchored in wall 3, you are completely right about that! I see I made a mistake in the original post. That wall is not to be demolished; rather, I wanted to show that it was in thicker concrete and appears differently on the drawing. The unnumbered red one was the one I was talking about potentially demolishing. The ceiling
Intet: [citat] Yes. That works too. There's no pressure. Or any cork, cap, lid, stopper. Yes. Only imagination sets the limits.
hanson#16: So far, no fiber cement board. The project has stalled a bit. Have started by putting up polycarbonate sheets below to divert the water. There is still a possibility to use fiber cement below, but it will probably be some kind of panel with gaps to allow for some ventilation.
Demmpa: Read the current angle with a bevel gauge, e.g. https://www.jula.se/catalog/verktyg-och-maskiner/matinstrument/matverktyg/vinkelmatare/smygvinkel-012226/
fribygg: [citat] No problems with three-inch timber in the wall, you could even increase the stud distance to 120cm if you have panel or sheet material on both sides.
Young Murdoch: [citat] We'll see, I'll get back with more info.
Hemmasnickarn85: Hello! I'm working on an extension at home and need to order an HEA beam to transfer the load from the outer wall to the extension. The beam will support the rafters from the existing house (a single-story house with a basement) and one side of the ridge from the extension which will have a vaulted ceiling (open to the ridge), see the snippet from my SketchUp drawing. It's been difficult to get
GuggeGrön: [citat] 🙄 Oops, as I said, a little stressed.... Thanks for the help!
Herrurlundur: A bit odd and perhaps difficult question but: Looks like it says "24", so I assume it's c24 class, but I can't decipher the rest. Unfortunately, a better picture is not possible. The wood could theoretically be from the 60s-70s, but more likely around the turn of the millennium. Pressure-treated? Anyone who either has excellent vision or has seen this variant of marking before? Managed to
JF.: Hello! In a heated storage room that will maintain +15 degrees, with a gable roof and 215mm insulation, should I choose plastic or a vapor-permeable moisture barrier?
Plura: [citat] Yes, my original question was which layout was the nicest. Not the least number of cuts or whether I need a foundation under it 😉. But there are several weeks left until the masonry starts, so if there are more suggestions for even nicer corners, I'd gladly accept them!!
Testarn: It is typically moisture from the inside that you want to prevent from creeping through the insulation and reaching the dew point (when the air becomes cold enough for moisture to condense), which creates mold problems. You can also use a so-called vapor retarder that doesn't completely stop moisture but mostly stops drafts. It is usually used in conjunction with cellulose insulation or other
Plate9211: An alternative is to install a sloped metal sheet? In that case, the best option would be to mill 10mm into the facade and insert the metal sheet. If the facade is completely smooth, it might work to plug and seal on top.
okaenrique: [citat] Thanks for the feedback. The sound comes from the impact of the steps on the floor. I have tested in a bedroom with KÄHRS Vinyl floor 6 mm with Sound damping ΔLw = 20 dB (integrated IXPE damping) but it doesn't help.
fribygg: [citat] At least 300mm of Styrofoam under the slab is the usual recommendation; talk to your underfloor heating supplier about what is appropriate in your case with a wooden joist structure.
Mr K: Hello I am considering renovating a cast stairway, but primarily an adjoining cast veranda on a house from the 1920s. Cracks have developed on/in parts of the vertical surfaces, and I have now chipped away some loose material to get a better view of the extent. I'm pondering what material and associated technique to use to repair these cracks/voids. Achieving a tight-fitting form to prevent it
Skitväder: [citat] How did it go then, was it the stirring that did it?
torbjornhedstrom: The insurance company is involved in Källaren Ocan Pumping out the water took about 3 hours so it was 4 centimeters So it seems to rise Anticimex will check during the week
jalmars: [citat] Yes, I understand that it should be relatively airtight, and provided that there is a functioning drainage system and a correctly installed sealing membrane on the outside, it takes a lot, as you say. But then the ventilated air gap doesn't really serve a function. However, an installation layer is, of course, nice.
Anonymiserad 405730: [citat] Yes, I always wash twice after grouting 👍
Janus82: I would place it inside the wall. Even if you build a fence with gaps, it will become a huge wind catcher, so at the first autumn storm the fence will topple and take the poor stones with it in the fall. Cast deep plinths to secure the fence so it will stand straight and steady for as long as you wish.
O: It is advantageous to dry during the winter when the humidity is lower. And the longer the wood lies, the more it dries. So congratulations on a quick delivery!
