Update since the thread started!
Short version:
You're an idiot if you don't stir the wet room adhesive before you begin.
Long: Re-glued the strips that came off but still had some small bubbles. But good enough...
Made a new room now and it was a disaster. Bubbles everywhere!
The scientist in me had to start working and I test-glued with various methods on a leftover gypsum board, like:
1: Glue only on the board
2: Glue on board and strip
3: Glue five minutes before, then brush on again.
And so on...
The result was that half the strips came off immediately. The rest when I applied spackle.
Conclusion: something wrong with the adhesive (half-right anyway..?). I've been annoyed that my glue is runny like water, very hard to get on the wall. So I googled for a more creamy adhesive...
Imagine my surprise when I check the online description of the glue I already bought and it says:
Consistency: Creamy.
And:
Thinning: Stir before use and can, if necessary, be thinned with water.
WTF? It's already water?
Wait wait now..? Mine isn't creamy at all, and stir before use?
Stir...
Stir the glue and it becomes creamy. Glue a strip. It's rock solid already an hour after gluing.
Conclusion: idiot...
Attached a picture of various ways to glue wrong.
