Hi,
I'm about to start renovating and just noticed that the old floor joists are only 145mm. I would like to add more insulation than that since it is a crawlspace. Is there a clever way to extend them?

You can insulate without joining the floor joists, västkustskiva can be screwed or nailed from underneath and if you choose frigolit, you can attach it with construction adhesive or screws.

How much insulation is recommended when using underfloor heating?

At least 300mm of Styrofoam under the slab is the usual recommendation; talk to your underfloor heating supplier about what is appropriate in your case with a wooden joist structure.
