Hello!
I'm working on an extension at home and need to order an HEA beam to transfer the load from the outer wall to the extension.
The beam will support the rafters from the existing house (a single-story house with a basement) and one side of the ridge from the extension which will have a vaulted ceiling (open to the ridge), see the snippet from my SketchUp drawing.
It's been difficult to get hold of a structural engineer for this small project, so now that I'm thinking of ordering an HEA220, I would like to check here first if there's an engineer who can take a quick look.
- Span 526 cm
- It will stand on 2 screw-laminated 45x120 on each side, which rest on a slab on the ground (reinforced). It will also extend 5 cm into the old outer walls.
- Metal roof on the existing house.
- The extension will also have a metal roof.
- Snow zone 2
- 90x315 cm glulam beam as the ridge for the extension.
Thanks in advance!
