jon_h: ..But I would hardly call it tiling on wood. You obviously have a layer in between that helps with movement absorption. And five years is a short time; it's not uncommon for tiles in incorrect constructions to come loose after 10-15 years. That doesn't mean they will necessarily in your case, but I wouldn't recommend doing what you've done. It's quick to lay a gypsum board or self-leveling
OlofChrister: Anyone who knows how to get a "forging surface" on raw iron. I'm working on building a new stair railing/fence with square pipes and flat iron, and I want to achieve that old-style look. I think you're supposed to heat the iron and brush on raw linseed oil, but I don't have a blowtorch, so I'm wondering if there are any alternatives? Thanks in advance /Christer
ordain: Conduct a transfer inspection with a reputable inspection firm. They should be able to assess whether it is normal or a sign of something more serious.

handersson: Hello, as an experienced wooden boat owner, I recommend "basar" (steaming). Take a test piece and place it on top of a pot filled with water, then put the lid over it. I believe it's a half-hour per inch in thickness. You will be surprised at how easily the strip bends without breaking. //Håkan.
Turkosa huset: Where in northern Stockholm can you buy lumber? Currently, I'm looking for untreated birch to build a cornice, but I'm asking in general as well. I've been tipped about a lumberyard in Solna, but I've forgotten its name...? jon_h: It certainly does, unless the meeting takes place in or near the wet zone. However, I'm not an expert on either carpets or paint, so I don't really know how it's supposed to be done and exactly what the rules say.
Humulus: Definitely sounds like there might be blåbetong! The question is just where/how much and how much radiation it emits. Check if you can borrow or rent a Geiger counter from your municipality! If so, you can easily check this yourself.
Glebster: Thanks for the answers! Yes, I have skimmed on a few occasions. However, I have noticed differences between various brands, such as foam from Harald Nyborg and Biltema not being particularly pleasant to deal with. I would be very surprised if any sunlight hits the foam considering the location. Hehe. :) However, I want a product that doesn't become brittle or bad after just a couple of years. So
andersmc: You can improvise a stair gauge. Saw a ruler (made of masonite or similar) that ends in a point. At the other end, saw out a couple of clear notches. Attach a piece of paper to the stair step. Then place your ruler with the point against one of the corners of the stair step and trace the contours onto the paper. The notches allow you to see exactly how it lies. Repeat this for all corners. Then
Ardexsmitten: If the plaster and paint adhere well, you can fill the walls with something like Cascos Husfix. Fill the entire walls to achieve a uniform surface. The pipes can either be bricked in or framed and drywalled. What condition are the pipes in? Maybe they should be replaced before enclosing.

ByggPutte: Got hold of a catalog from Gunnebo. If I remember correctly, they have a fitting that is mounted at the end of the roof trusses glulam beam. And it's not visible at all. Best regards, Putte

snuttjulle: The difficult part is probably getting the chimney to remain stable if you try to dig out what it's standing on. It might be possible to support it all around, but it sounds like a risky project.
tomas_mandorf: Have made my own window sills from stave-glued oak, about 20 cm. works very well and is, as you say, very nice together with the white walls.
