Hi. I just filled up the dug-out trenches in the bathroom after a pipe replacement. How about after-watering? I used Maxit fine concrete. The surrounding floor is also concrete; it's ground level, slab on grade. I'm a bit unsure if it's good to go and after-water because then the water might seep through into the slab and create moisture/mold, right? Or will any such water seep through the slab and the underlying insulation and such? What do you think?

No, you don't need to water it afterwards, and even if you want to do it, you will never be able to get such amounts of water to go through the concrete, so you would have problems with moisture and mold.

Water thoroughly and cover with plastic, then it's good.

Should I put a construction plastic over it? I read something about a shrink barrier. The water can run down in the joint between existing concrete and new concrete.

Tob_ekl, wasn't it you who was supposed to self-level after two weeks and we discussed which fast-setting concrete you should use? Regular fine concrete needs to shrink for a couple of months before the self-leveling, but maybe you've changed the timeline.

Construction plastic will work fine. The water doesn't go anywhere, it's just small puddles on the floor, nothing that flows.

Yes, I am going to self-level the bathroom floor and I bought ABS 318 for that, but I used fine concrete to patch up the floor surface outside the bathroom. There, I will not self-level.

Aha, then I understand.
