Need to splice all floor joists (20 pcs). I saw two methods: Notching or splicing them side by side. I have joists that are 50mm. Is that too little for notching? Nailing them side by side creates problems, as I have to have a ledger board under each joist to support the subfloor, as the joist becomes double thick at the splice point. I'm considering butt joining and nailing brackets on both sides of the joist. But is this successful from a construction technical perspective?
