I will be installing a new mailbox and some outdoor lighting this summer. I would appreciate if someone could describe how to use form tubes. How do you get them into the ground? (Do you have to dig by hand or use an earth auger??) And what kind of "mortar" should be used to pour in and cast with?
If it's for lighting, can you somehow run the electricity through the tube?
Thanks in advance

Something that works very well is drilling with a ground drill; Skurupsborren. If you have access to a cement mixer, that's of course good, but smaller amounts of cement can be mixed on a tarpaulin or a board of some kind.
You can make use of so-called dry concrete, pre-mixed concrete in a 25-kilo bag. Add water and mix in a masonry bucket with a powerful drill. Check out Finja's website, there are tips there!
If you can empty a sack and a watering can, you can cast a small plinth.
Yep, there is now a mix that you pour dry into the hole/pipe you want to cast something in after you've filled it with water. No stirring, no whisking, just fill up and pour in... Simple and good. It's called Maxit Nomix. Check this link:

Works well for smaller casting projects.

Ronnie
