Hello.

I have tried to search through the forum for experiences with different brands of foam sealant but it seems sparse. Are cheap brands like, for example, Byggmax's own as good as a "name brand" foam?

I am going to foam between a slab and a newly replaced sill (elevated on spacers). Any recommendations?

Best regards,

Filip

I would think that there is not much difference in quality.
However, there are slightly different types of foam.

Do you have a lot to skim?

Hello,

The distance is quite long (practically around the entire house) but the gap is 120mm deep and 10mm high.

Downwards I have concrete (the slab) and above the sill plate.

Best regards,

Filip

You know that one bottle will last a long way. So the cost will certainly not be so high if you feel like taking the brand bottle. Have you skimmed before?

Things that differ include, for example, that there are foams that are UV-resistant and/or soft even after they have cured. Cheap foams do not have these properties.

However, I doubt that there is much of a difference between what you buy at Silvan and Byggmax compared to, for example, Essve's cheap foams.

Thanks for the answers!

Yes, I have skimmed on a few occasions. However, I have noticed differences between various brands, such as foam from Harald Nyborg and Biltema not being particularly pleasant to deal with.

I would be very surprised if any sunlight hits the foam considering the location. Hehe. :)

However, I want a product that doesn't become brittle or bad after just a couple of years. So my question might be whether the lifespan varies between different brands.

Regards,

Filip
