Steel beams - price per kilo or per meter?
I've seen that used steel beams are sold per kilo on Blocket and similar sites, but I assume that's because they're only meant to be "melted down."
What about newly produced beams, are they also priced per kilo, per meter, or something else?
Does anyone know what a standard HEA 220 at 7-8 meters might cost?

The wholesalers sell by the kilo, while the retailers often state the price per meter to make it easier for the customer. A used beam can often be reused, in which case the kilo price is likely set in relation to the current market. However, if there's a scrap kilo price listed, it is probably meant to be scrapped.
A HEA 220 weighs 50.5kg/m and the kilo price in Stena's stock price list is 16kr/kg+VAT. Blasting and painting add an additional 1.37kr/kg+VAT.

Ok. Is sandblasting + painting an addition because it (presumably?) isn't needed for beams that are going to be indoors, or when do you want it and when don't you?Ardexsmitten said:
It depends a bit on whether the steel will be visible in the construction. It's usually hard to fix the rust so that it stays away. The red or gray rust protection primer that is applied is very strong and protects the steel well. But if the beam will not be visible and is placed in a dry location, there should not be any problems with it being unprimed. At many sales locations, you can't choose; they usually operate with primed so they can store the beam outdoors.
