Anyone who knows how to get a "forging surface" on raw iron. I'm working on building a new stair railing/fence with square pipes and flat iron, and I want to achieve that old-style look. I think you're supposed to heat the iron and brush on raw linseed oil, but I don't have a blowtorch, so I'm wondering if there are any alternatives?
