The posts are securely anchored and the wall will be sufficiently attached to the posts, so this is not a concern. Back to the question: What would be appropriate to treat the timber with?

Albireo: I'm not really a "pro" at this, (even though I've done the same thing) The big problem is that it takes longer for the mortar to cure. If you're quick at laying bricks, it can be a problem (the cement doesn't have time to cure and the pressure on the bottom stone becomes too high). First row - no problem - second row - no problem, but by the third row, the bottom row must have started to cure.
Jörgen.Cederlund: Wisely from experience, I know that the panel wood shrinks. We painted the horizontal paneling on the main house with black Falu paint. After a couple of years, the paneling had shrunk about 10-12 mm. Luckily, I had fastened the paneling with stainless screws, so it was just a matter of unscrewing, pushing together, and screwing it back again. I would have preferred to nail the paneling a

justusandersson: The problem with panel-built wooden houses is that even the wallpaper contributes to the structural integrity... If only a middle stud needs to be transitioned, no large dimensions are required. A 45x95 mm stud on its edge is sufficient. The difficulty lies in being able to remove the glued board in a neat way. 10 mm pine plywood is probably an excellent replacement material.

justusandersson: There are also different types of blades for jigsaws. Make sure to use a blade intended for sheet material if you're going to cut MDF.
