MoN: You could otherwise build up the wall with lightweight concrete. That should be more stable, right? I've never built with lightweight concrete myself, but it’s apparently quite simple.
andersmc: What do you mean by it should work? That the foam does not melt? I have sealed joints between foam blocks with regular foam sealant from Byggmax and nothing happened to the foam, other than that they stuck together.
jon_h: I can't see any risk at all as long as there is no standing water and muck in the pipe.
GustavW: The stiffness increases linearly with width and quadratically with height, meaning l*h^2. A 180*220 is thus as strong as a 90*315 glulam provided you have achieved the jointing. Two 125*125 on top of each other glued/screwed together provide a construction that has 80% of the strength of the above. Two of the same next to each other give 30% of the same strength.

GoEk: Thanks Kent, I'll probably skip the plastic. I managed to get plastic in the ceiling but it should be OK anyway, the insulation is airily ventilated against the råsponten. I've installed 265mm insulation in the ceiling, the interior walls are framed with 50x100 but the surface of the timmer walls is not completely flat so I'm expecting mostly 120 insulation, with some pieces being 145. Best

eestere: OK, completely correct that the wall will store heat and therefore it's not wise to insulate on the inside. The risk of detachment and cracks decreases, I assume, if we use a mesh render. But maybe it's quite right to remove all the render. Any suggestions on how to easily remove old render? Should we rent a machine? (Found the answer myself:
moddha: on my basement walls (below ground level) that I am currently reworking, I plan to use basically the same solution as you except that I intend to use moisture-resistant boards. I think I'll go with masterboard because I like that material. For some reason, I find it reasonably easy to work with, but I recall some forum threads that think it's anything but easy to work with... I've insulated
GoEk: Did like this in my ongoing vacation home build, supported both sides of the hole, sawed and attached 2"5 on the vertical sides (a bit hard to see in the picture but there's one on the left side) and then removed the support boards.

You avoid the cutting process, with the noise it brings and some risk of accidents, etc. But no major gains, as mentioned. unoarne: Should the wallboards (chipboard, plasterboard) go all the way down to the sill seal or should there be a small gap? Similarly, for the upper part, should the boards lie against the horizontal beams or should there be a small gap? Grateful for an answer.
