Hello!

I am in the middle of my bathroom renovation project and would need some good advice again!

In the concrete intermediate floor, the old drain pipe from the sink and bidet is partially embedded in the intermediate floor. Approximately 3/4 is embedded.

*Should I remove the old pipe before casting EPS cement? Is there a risk that the cast iron pipe will eventually rust completely and collapse?

*How can I best remove the pipe? Should I break it and try to "carve" it out? Or should I chip the concrete around the pipe?

*Is there a risk that the intermediate floor will collapse? The distance in question is about 2 meters.

Regards,
Kim

If it's not in the way and there's room for new pipes in EPS, I would leave it. However, embedding the pipe in concrete and still using it would be too big of a risk in my opinion.

No, I wasn't planning to use the pipe!

I think there's room for new pipes on top anyway, but I was mostly wondering if there's any risk in letting it stay?

I can't see any risk at all as long as there is no standing water and muck in the pipe.
