Skim coat wooden wall?

I have a prefab house where two of the modules meet a bit awkwardly and I would need to fill with spackle there. The question is whether snickerspackel is sufficient or if I need to use other materials? It will be covered with plasterboard, and to avoid cracking I want to spackle.

Any ideas?

Masonite strips are quite useful.

Thanks for the tip! However, I used a more "advanced" method, I sanded the area in question before plastering. That worked well too
