Build half-wall for secluded sleeping area
Hello!
We have bought a large studio apartment and want to divide the room. Basically, make a bedroom. At first, I was considering putting up a wall all the way to the ceiling and a door. But now we’ve decided not to have a door and also not to have the wall go all the way up to the ceiling on one side of the opening. Most of the new wall. This is partly to let light in but also for air. I realized there would be no ventilation in the room if I put up full walls and a door.
But how do you make the wall stable without attaching anything to the ceiling? The intended half-wall dimensions are about 2.2m long and about 2.3m high. 2.6m in ceiling height. Is it enough to attach it to the floor and wall?
And one more thing… we can’t decide if it looks better to have the future "full" wall strictly against the door opening without door trim or if we should have it about 5cm from the door trim...
Best regards, Daniel

Welcome to the forum!
If you only attach to the floor and wall, the free corner will not be stable. You will either have to live with an unsteady wall or you can extend the outermost stud and attach it to the ceiling.
Leave a bit of space from the door so you don't have the wall right at the doorway.

Thanks!
Okay, I probably need to take the outermost rule up to the ceiling.
But regarding the placement, I have received agreements from several who have looked that it should be in line with the doorway. Or actually, it's not a regular doorway, but more like an arch about 40 cm deep.
