Building Materials and Construction Technology
Immobil: [citat] Yep, but it might be far from you: http://www.mjallby-trabygg.se/ ;) They deliver most of the material for our renovation which you can follow on the website. ;)
jorwes: For those of you considering making your own staircase, there is a company; Trappteknik from which you can buy designs. These include templates in a 1:1 scale, which greatly simplifies the process. Check out trappteknik.com /Jögga
Jante: Hello. If you want to purchase electricity, there's a lot available at http://www.knifab.com/ at good prices....
zankan: Then it's a concern, it must be kortlas otherwise it will never hold....
Immobil: [citat] 8) Yep, check out: http://www.dromfonstret.se/ However, I haven't tried it myself. ;)
A-K: Thank you for your answers. :) I am also wondering if you have to contact the chimney sweep for a new pressure test (We have just done one)? If the plaster has any significance for the tightness or something like that? /A-K
Matti: thanks ;) edit: and this was definitely not off topic.. :D
Sonander: I think it might be worth it. Someone at my work had their upper floor redone because the quality manager didn't approve the job. Now that we're adding another floor, we got the recommendation from the supplier to get one ourselves. They could refer a kvalans, but thought it would be better if we did it ourselves.
Norpan: Sorry for the delay with the price list, but it is loaned out and I'm waiting to get it back... :-/ I'll try to hurry up a bit, promise.... :-/
Immobil: Here you can find both loose hinges, mirror doors with or without frames, and much more: http://www.spikenikistan.com/sodermalm/index3.htm ;)
sollentuna: Thank you for the response! Is it 170 sqm of living space for the house, or is it facade area?
Solana: http://www.nobleteam.com/ Does anyone know anything about them? Considering marble windowsills. Their marble tables are also nice. Seems to be good prices, about 270 for a windowsill, right?
Niq: If you take glass from a bus, you should take the inner glass (buses usually have insulated glass) because the outer one is mostly tinted.

stratobee: There was a cool guy here in England who built a straw house with a wooden frame. He used clay and cow dung as plaster! It worked perfectly and became a beautiful house in old Stone Age style. Check out the link: http://www.channel4.com/4homes/ontv/grand-designs/houses/S/sussex_woodman.html
Bob_the_builder: Yes, you're on the right track. Single-story houses generally have self-supporting trusses (which only need support on the exterior walls). However, there can be some special solutions at areas like entrance roofs that can make other walls load-bearing. Do you have trusses, i.e., with internal supports in the form of a W? If so, they are almost certainly self-supporting. You don't build
jorwes: How the heck can you insert images? No matter what you do with fake logs, it will show somewhere. Nothing compares to a real log house. If you're considering building a log house, why not buy an old house and move it. That's what we did and it went great! [bild] There was supposed to be an image here but... The cost won't be less than building a stick-built house, but compared to buying a new
lind75: I was planning to plaster a chimney wall indoors so that it comes out to the same level as the wall that meets the chimney. The plaster ended up being about 25mm thick.
Magnus_Nordmark: [citat] Exactly. Another aspect to consider is fire safety. A steel beam is significantly worse in terms of fire safety because it collapses much earlier than a wooden one. A steel beam twists and becomes soft already at a few hundred degrees, whereas a wooden beam burns slowly. A wooden framework thus stands much longer than a steel one in a fire. Therefore, steel beams are often clad with
sollentuna: Yes, sigh, I guess I'll just have to buy a new cable then, and 32A costs 800 SEK at Malmbergs. Anyone want to buy a 25 m 16A cable? Thanks for the help!
Fasting65: habo. k40 is called rail and fittings - then they are ball-bearing. check www.habo.com
Betina: [citat] What is masonite good for? During the 1970s, it seems that masonite was installed practically everywhere! I've seen it behind tiles in bathrooms, as "wallpaperable" walls in timber houses, under floorboards in crawl spaces (with earth at the bottom), as flooring in root cellars, and even as capillary-breaking (:o) material under sills. In none of these places did the masonite "survive,"
Ubbe: AArgggg - another suggestion ;) How the heck am I supposed to decide ::) What is the difference between våtrumsgips and regular drywall?
tommiz: How fun that someone noticed the same thing. I am also curious about that construction of mirror panel. Buying ready-made is not an option for me because I need to be able to adjust the mirror width of the panel according to the room. Martin Timell made a version in MDF which is on tv4's website if you search. Does anyone know more about the "kvarteret" panel????? Best regards, Tommy
frasse: Beam shoe becomes slightly more stable, otherwise it is common to nail through the floor structure (truss in your case). Then you alternate every other shortling 45mm sideways so you avoid skew nailing.
Fasting65: Thanks for the tips. Since the sliding door wall is being built from one side, it's difficult to have boards on both sides of a stud construction. Over the weekend, the wall was made - it consists of: - 25 mm sekundärregel, OSB, Gypsum board.
Norpan: I think we will visit Leroy Merlin and Obi first. We'll see what else we have time for. Tonight we're leaving! Tomorrow it's shopping!! ;D
