Beadboard or boards?

I'm going to cover my ceiling and slanted ceiling in a room.

What will look best? Beadboard or flat boards?

It will be painted white.

I have chosen to buy regular raw plank in three widths, 145, 170 & 195mm.
Left it at a carpentry to transform into raw paneling
Painting in matte white.
Will have the "raw surface" facing out and mix the widths randomly during installation to attempt to trick the eye into thinking it's old 8)

What is the most stylish is a matter of taste, but it is probably most common to use morapanel, pärlspont, etc., as it gives the ceiling more life.
