Building Materials and Construction Technology
sville: Halotex is not exactly like regular paper, but more like a real fabric. In other words, it can withstand a hit from a staple hammer. http://www.epinions.com/Arrow_Staple_Hammer_Tacker_Shop_Tools is really stable and good. Available at most hardware stores.
David: It usually has to be custom ordered. We had 145 mm wide slätspont. Really nice! Check with your building supplier. We had Orminge Trä order ours. Regards David
fia_mstd: [citat] At an eternit factory, it is hardly about isolated exposures... ::)
almis: Hello I live in Höganäs where Mataki has its manufacturing, I can add that in the courtyard in front, there are pallets with both Mataki and Trebolit roofing felt. So the conclusion is that they are manufactured in the same place and probably also the same in the rolls, just different packaging! /Almis
daniellindholm: There shouldn't be any problems. We looked at it for a tower. Needed about a 5m baseboard, but I got really stingy as we stood there. No way I'm paying 150kr/m for a 75mm floor baseboard. There were some that were just veneered with oak, but these were not nice at all. They just looked 'cheap'.
styrman1: Plywood is laminated and cannot move. OSB, on the other hand, can move and therefore requires an expansion joint. It has an undersize of 3 mm for this reason. It is only 897 or 1197mm wide.
4integration: We had an ugly pine staircase that we had to do something about. We chose to paint the underside, stringers, and "spaljé" white and then glued 7 mm oak parquet on the steps. On the front/back edge, we screwed a 14 mm oak strip. We are pleased with the result. My brother-in-law has a new "similar" staircase with steps in solid oak, and sure, their staircase is nicer and quieter but cost well over
Bob_the_builder: If the external plasterboard is not joined at the stud, it's preferable to use H-profiles in plastic as joint support.
zoviey: What is the quality difference between Byggmax budget drywall and their "regular" one? Does anyone have any experience??? Going to add insulation and wondering if they are worth it? They are cheap, or is there something cheaper??
El_-micke: hi there are with different profile heights..........send over a sketch with some measurements and I'll check........I have a bunch..........in blekinge if that's south enough :P
Ulmian: I have a bit of "pul" ahead of me with two interior walls. I need to close off a doorway on one wall measuring 12.8 cm in width. Should I use 45x45 or 45x70 studs? Planning to attach drywall and chipboard afterwards. Possibly also OSB. How will the durability be if I want to attach kitchen cabinets on one side of the wall later? The other wall was previously an exterior wall. The width
Nix: Clay tiles require a roof pitch of around 21-24 degrees. Concrete tiles can go as low as 16 degrees. Below this, metal sheets, felt, or the excellent, ridiculously expensive sedum roof (grass roof) Or other clever materials that I can't think of right now.
jmbe: Does anyone know if there is any difference in this, or are they just two names for the same type of wood? /M
Schwingen: Anyone know where in the Stockholm area one can find a plain base moulding, of roughly the same type that Karlsonhus uses on the top edge of their window/door casings? The upper part that the flashing rests against I can probably manufacture, but the base moulding is a bit too 'thick' for my router. Tips on alternative solutions are of course also gratefully received... ;) [bild]
Schwingen: The wood guide is probably an old favorite that contains a lot of information...http://www.traguiden.se
lassemajja: Just don't shop at Bauhaus! AKB has knowledgeable staff to help you find the right items. Why only 10 cm insulation? If I were you, I would instead go for 5 cm "rock-hard" cellplast, which will be both cheaper and better for you. The most important thing about a garage slab is that it holds. The thermal insulation you get with a 10 cm cellplast board compared to this 5 cm one is barely
jumjum: Cellplast or styrofoam if you will, is windproof but not diffusion tight. Check the major manufacturers' websites and you'll see.
Tilt: Thank you for your responses! I am considering having a projector in the relaxation room, so I want at least 5 m free from columns. I should probably contact someone who can calculate it and give suggestions on how to solve my problem. It would be nice and practical with several smaller beams in the ceiling instead of one large one!
Ubbe: 1. The best thing is to store them in the same climate (same room?) as where they will be placed. THEN the moisture content will reach the "right level." 2. Place shavings on each layer and a thicker layer underneath. Good ventilation is important - absolutely no tarps directly on them. 3. Place shavings closely; more is better. About 7-9 shavings per layer is adequate. (Modern shaving machines
Totte_S: Post a close-up and you'll find out what you have... ;)
lassemajja: Jonas is right. If you're getting a small amount of material, it might not be worth it. But if you're getting a lot, I can promise that they can arrange good prices. For example, I bought 20 pallets of leca with a 29 cm width for 25:- each. The normal price for these is around 40:-
AW: Hi Does anyone know where I can buy a basement door in galvanized sheet metal or aluminum? frame measurements 88 X 196 Grateful for answers
AndWig: Where can one buy aerated concrete planks in some type of standard size, and what might be considered a standard size? I will use them as intermediate floors.
Per-Erik: Well.. I sawed wrong.. ::) Went at 5 past 6 to the local lumber dealer (expensive Woody) and bought a new board... This time sawed correctly.. ;D To my horror, I discovered that I must have sawed wrong anyway.. :-[ after a bit more investigation, I realized that it's not the same tongue and groove on the boards.. ***gahaaaa... ***** *Censorship* board.. Why oh why isn't there a standard for
spisen: I have seen that they have a new type of decking at both Beier and K-rauta. It is a type of hardwood and is somewhat darker than teak and costs 38 kr/lm = approximately 400 kr/m2
styrman1: right now, the production of linoljetryckt wood is halted because they are having issues with it molding/turning black. I think it cost between 25-30kr per meter last time for 28x120mm decking.
zankan: [citat] What I meant by higher sound class is that with more distance between the boards, you get a better lowest frequency in the wall. You also get better sound insulation due to the distance between the masses. And if you want a sound class, you skip the chipboard and use 3 layers of gypsum double studs, and so on... But that's another story... Stud walls within the same residence with more
tiggre: gypsum breathes, so why not... however, if your walls become damp sometimes, the gypsum will become soft compared to plaster (which is worthless)
