I inadvertently purchased a ceiling lamp that requires a screwed down mounting. I'd like to hang it on a ceiling rose hook. There's no way I’m getting rid of the ceiling rose. Is it hopeless, or can I modify the lamp somehow?
There's a lot of mounting brackets around to buy. If you can't get rid of the hook, I'd buy a bracket with a larger hole, and put the bracket around/over the hook, and then use the hook to fix it against the ceiling, maybe with some wire, or zip ties etc that you can wind around it. With a suitable washer beneath it, you could probably get it tight. It's a lot of Macgyvering but should work.
Another option is to visit your local metal/sheet workshop (plåtslagare) and ask them to alter the bracket with some kind of angled part that is attached 90 degrees down with some kind of fork part that can be clamped against the hook, pressing it tight to the ceiling rose..
