Hi there,
I'm looking to buy a small timber house, built in 68, and when inspecting the krypgrund i noticed this beam looking a little sketchy.
The entrance was too small to enter so this photo is as close as I could get.
I think it might have be an attempt to support the timber floor from sagging but it doesn’t look like the supporting posts a solidly secured and the furthest post (it's hard to see) isn’t straight at all.
My questions is, does this look like a crucial structural element to the house that needs repairing? and if so, what would you estimate it would cost to replace the beam and do new supports?
any help would be much appreciated!
cheers,
/ Scott
Side note:
There is a moisture issue at the moment the seller is going to fix (clearing, floor plastic, wood sanitization for mold and a dehumidifier system)

The main beam and its supporting bars have almost certainly been there from the beginning. They look perfectly normal to me. However, the space should be cleared of all the garbage.

Ok, great
I guess I was just expecting a cement support for the wooden beam.
Yeah if we go ahead with the purchase it will all be cleaned and sealed .
