I tried translating it but it didn't help. This is for a new house that I am interested in buying. The house has two floors, built on a slope. The top floor is actually the entrance floor and the lower floor is actually a basement with three sides open and the fourth side facing the slope of the land. I know it is a bit hard to understand from my description so I have attached two pictures here. First is the floor plan of the bottom floor, second is the cross section of the house. Can someone help me understand what this area called "PLINTGRUND EXCAVATED" will look like? Will there be access to this area from within the house? Is it like a small crawl space that needs to be watched for moisture mold etc?
As I understand it, it is a pier foundation built in the slop. They have not excavated it so it’s probably not an accessible area due to lack of height. The prints show it just because it’s underneath a part of the building so that you are not fooled to believe that the house is bigger than it actually is. The lower floor seems to be half the size of the top floor.
Maybe there is a hatch somewhere to inspect the area, but it’s impossible to say. Maybe the realtor can answer that?
A non excavated area can look something like this, but everything is depending on the environment on where the house is built.
And in your case there will be pillars in the space.

This type of house is referred to as "suterräng" in swedish, from the french "souterrain" ("below ground"). I think the english call them "slope houses".madrulzzz skrev:

Plint = pier, plinth.
Grund = foundation.
Utgrävd = excavated, digged out.
"O" before a word negates its meaning, i.e. outgrävd means not excavated, not digged out, etc.
You can clearly see the space in the last picture of the second image, the one that shows the house from a side view.
It looks to me that there is quite a lot of space available, but as the previous answers have stated the space is not prepared in any way. The image from andjul is very descriptive.
If you buy the house it is probably possible to open up a hole under the stairs to the space, if no access is available already. It is a space that needs to be kept under watch for moisture, mold etc.
