Ah, nice. Bauhaus really has everything, except their inventory on the website, which annoys me... :)
Agree. Now I have a Bauhaus nearby so I can drop by when I need to, but I understand if it's far for others. Now I don't know how it is for you.

Saw that there are ready-made kits available at Bauhaus for sprucing up after door frames.
Are those the expensive portals from Lundbergs that they have, or something cheaper?

He only noted that there was no information on their cost. Since I have quite a long way to Bauhaus myself, I try to check out as much as possible.

Sometimes when there are brick walls, I usually polish up a karm. It takes time but looks nice.

Why not clad with drywall and corner protection? Cheap and simple. That's what I did when we removed some doors to the kitchen and living room.

I used that when I built a half-wall in the hallway, but then there was a lot of spackling and dust. If I had known how much extra work it would entail, I would have slapped a piece of wood on the short side.

But maybe I didn't do it the right way :)

I also like the variant with plaster and corner protectors, it looks great, and it's easy to plaster when you have metal corner protectors (a nice edge to spread the plaster against). It does create dust when sanding, but not if you have a flex giraffe with a vacuum cleaner ;)

Will you then add trim, or how do you handle the transition to the wall? You might not want to paint/wallpaper two rooms in the process.

do you mean with the plaster variant? I painted the hole white, and painted out a bit on each side in every room, so it became like a fake trim, it turned out great.
