TIPS;
Also check out www.inland.nu they also have stair renovation kits for those who do not want to do it themselves.

elof: So you've also covered that part, whatever it's called, "under" the stair nose?
With the same material as the actual "step" or something else?
How did you manage the tracking for the stair nose? Looks nice btw!

I myself will probably put a brass strip as the stair nose. Will check around a bit before to see what's available.....

I'm planning to put a brass molding as a stair nose. I'll look around a bit first to see what's available.....
Yep, the risers are clad in exactly the same material, was initially afraid it would be too much oak, but that definitely wasn't the case! Maybe I should add that the staircase and surrounding floor were previously covered in a dark green-brown-orange carpet with an autumn leaf motif :) (I get shivers down my spine when I think about it)

I did the tracking with the table saw.....had initially thought of routing it, but discovered that the tongue on the floor was exactly the same thickness as the saw blade so a cut in the back was perfect.

A good saw is probably one of the most important things for a job like this. If it chips on the step, they won't look nice at all :(

Ok, I don't really own any tools to do such jobs. :-/
So I think it will be a brass strip....
I'll probably paint the risers instead + "other" stairs, i.e., everything except the actual step. Hope you understand what I mean. ::)

Where can I get that kind of brass strip with grooves for the stairs? :-?
I've looked online quite a bit but haven't managed to find any...
