I have lots of elfa parts from the previous house so will use them. I also want free floor space in this area to make it easier to clean. It will also be somewhat of a hallway for the garage so there will be a lot of traffic through the storage.

But great tip on the shelf, it might be relevant in other places :)
 
Landed on using 70 studs and 15mm k-plywood should hold up nicely. Of course, well anchored to the floor, walls, and ceiling. Going with hang strips screwed into the studs and with blocking between them. Also thought to screw the vertical rails into the wall so it doesn't sway sideways.

Each section can handle 200kg according to Elfa, so a shelf with 3 sections (four vertical rails) should be able to hold 600kg, more than what I'll be putting up there.

If you're using 15mm plyfa on both sides of the wall, noggings might not be needed. It will be stable anyway.
