Yes, that's the consolation you have to take... and that it's at the back of the house where no one will really see how ugly it is...

The worst part is that if someone sees it, they'll ask, "Did you do that yourself?"... and I'll get annoyed every time and mutter; "No, but I wish I had done it myself..."

The story continues...with me coming home yesterday to find an invoice for the gasket plus travel time, plus labor...1800 SEK...

For a job I specified clearly in the request for quotation from the start, which was not done professionally at all...time to try disputing an invoice then, sigh...

I just have to ask. Did they cut the collar or install it completely?

It is cut into the cuff. To make them lift the chimney to put on the cuff afterwards now without getting paid, I see as futile. I also need to spend money on a real tinsmith to make it professional with a roof hood and flat sheet...

I just received confirmation via email that the invoice is credited. With the following addition:

Copied from the contractor's email:
"the vapor barrier is approved without this membrane, The sheet is correctly installed and fulfills the function.
I just want to inform you that I have spoken to Schidel and that the membrane is not needed, only the cover plate with sealing. Enough about this, I am crediting the invoice so this is concluded."

It is up to each reader to make their own assessment.

The story continues:
I had the local tinsmith come to look at the roof...and he was extremely upset and wanted me to hire a sheet metal consultant so I could have it in black and white that it was done incorrectly, so the stove company would have to face the consequences. I mentioned this to the company, which got agitated and said, "If you're so dissatisfied, we can just come and take everything down again." I ended it there and would rather spend extra money on a serious tinsmith than push the issue further...I don't think people do particularly good work under "threats," you see.

Then, when I got home yesterday, there was an invoice for an additional 2000 SEK in the hallway...for "Floor plate"...2 mistakes with it:
1. The plate was clearly included in the quote
2. The price of the plate according to their own website is 995 SEK

LH Group in Mölndal. In hindsight, highly un-recommended...

Had the chimney sweep at home this morning who approved the installation but was appalled by the sheet metal work on the roof...starting to get embarrassing besides being stressful to find a real sheet metal worker to correct it.
