A businessman travelling through rural England decided to stop the night at a picturesque country inn called The George and the Dragon.
After checking in at reception, he asked the lady co-owner if the meals were still being served at the bar. No, she replied forcefully. Here at The George and the Dragon, last meals are at 8:00 p.m. sharp, she said.
It's now 10 past 8. Not even a sandwich?, he asked sheepishly. No, not even a sandwich. The chef has packed up, and I'm certainly not going to start slaving away in the kitchen at this time of night just because you haven't thought out things in your life, she said.
Very well, said the man timidly. Is there any chance of having breakfast in my room in the morning, please? Certainly not, she snapped. Here at The George and the Dragon, all breakfasts are served in the dining room at 7:30 a.m. prompt. Any more questions?
