Yet another thread about stair renovation

I am planning to do something about my staircase.

It doesn't appeal to me aesthetically. I have read in several threads here that a lacquer stripper, specifically Metabo LF, is supposed to be a lifesaver and also make the whole process more manageable.

My goal is to sand down the staircase so that the grain is visible and then stain or lacquer it.

Those of you with experience in renovating staircases, with stair noses/overhangs, am I being too naive here?

I wouldn't do that job, it takes a lot of time and effort. Go to a cabinetmaker who manufactures boards that are glued onto the stair treads with overhang. We did it this way with 2 cm thick oiled Oak with beveled edges.

Just lay carpet on the stairs and it will look nice.
