Hi best forum!

This summer and fall I'm going to learn how to build. I've finally taken the time and I'm really looking forward to this! I've read up on everything for the projects but don't understand what type of saw is best to acquire.

The project is a mini-cabin and I want to be able to cut studs, etc. as straight and neatly as possible, preferably already in the building store (if there's something portable?). There's so many best-in-test reviews on different electric saws but less information on what one should invest in. Preferably not super expensive but I do have a budget, although no space to store a saw that needs to stay indoors.

Anyone who knows about saws and would like to help in this jungle?

Saw another thread with a similar question that helped a little bit but not completely!

I'm a beginner so preferably something uncomplicated!

Thanks a lot!

I assume the Festool HKC meets your requirements well, perhaps a bit expensive :)

Miter saws are uncomplicated in many ways but not overly easy to store. I would therefore recommend some form of circular saw with either a cord or battery, and also a speed square like this one https://www.hultafors.se/products/squares/H0520-snabbvinkel/188391 to use as a guide when cutting things. It is very sensible to also have a bunch of quick clamps, at least two sawhorses, and some form of sheet material to place on the sawhorses and use as a table when you are outside. Expect to cut into this sheet material a bit, so it will get unsightly. Remember to set the depth correctly on the saw; you want it to go through but not be fully extended, especially if you have something underneath.

If you want to cut studs possibly already at the hardware store, isn't a decent hand saw the easiest to both buy and store?
