I have closed up a door in our laundry room in the basement with steel studs and a drywall. But what should I use to finish the drywall?? Does regular plaster work on drywall, or should I use something else??? Thanks for now...
Plaster is very easy to use and gives a very good result.
1. Mix the plaster (it's enough to mix with a regular trowel in the bucket)
2. Spread it on the wall
3. Scrape off against existing walls (preferably use a straightedge in metal/steel; it's important to keep it clean from plaster, otherwise, the plaster will stick to the straightedge. You can also use a regular wooden board, but make sure to wet it to prevent the plaster from sticking to it.)
4. Wait until the surface of the plaster has dried and scrape the surface with a felt board, scratching board with foam rubber. Make sure to cover the floor underneath with plastic as you need to use plenty of water when scraping the surface.
5. Finish by simply brushing the surface with a regular paintbrush to achieve the desired texture.

Thank you!! it worked great... easy to work with is just the first name...
Spackle only works in thin layers (sandspackle). It doesn't dry well if applied too thickly, it cracks and sinks. If you want to build up a lot, it becomes cumbersome to have to apply maybe 10 times.
