Hi, new to the forum.

Bought a semi-detached house (though freestanding), most of it is original from 1970.
The bathrooms were renovated around 1985 + 1995 by the previous owner. One bathroom has tiles. The other only has a vinyl floor, no tiles.

We are going to renovate the bathrooms and kitchen so everything becomes new.

I have some original documents where the following is stated in connection with the construction of the houses:

FLOOR: Fully welded vinyl flooring on chipboard
WALL: Plasterboard and chipboard, wall plastic up to 1.3m height and painting.
CEILING: Plasterboard and plastic ceiling.

1- Does fully welded vinyl flooring mean that no glue was used?
2- If the bathrooms were redone in 85 and 95, do you think they removed the asbestos/material containing asbestos then or did they lay over the existing material?

1 no, it is welded with wire after being glued in place. Previously, there was wallpaper that was chemically welded at the seams. You probably have 2m strips from floor to ceiling.

2 it's impossible to know, but they probably tore it down and put in new. But if you start tearing and find a layer further in, it could be asbestos. The only way to know is to send it in for analysis.

"Fully welded" refers to the joints, then the carpet is glued.
They probably tore out the old carpet in the '80s, but you can never know for sure. Check the floor drain.
Asbestos presence in 1970, it was still used.

Thanks for the answers!
A bit clearer now.
