Vertical interior panel on floor trim?

The old cottage will get some extra insulation on the inside of the walls. I have some used paneling that I plan to use on the lower part of the wall. To avoid the "dust traps" in the panel's grooves, I plan to place them on the baseboard. The baseboard will then be part of the wall covering along with the vertical paneling. Am I right in thinking that it requires two battens at the bottom? One against the floor and one at the joint between the baseboard and the paneling. The panels are 125 cm long, and the intended baseboard is 15 cm.

One more board at the joint would be good, preferably a slightly wider one (e.g., 70 or 95 wide) so you don't need to nail so close to the end of the panel.

Yes, that was a good point. You could reduce the one that lies against the floor to a plank, so you don't have more framing than approximately two 45s.

Yes, now a meter of panel has been installed, standing on the baseboard. However, I used regular 45 x 45 studs, but pre-drilled the baseboard before nailing. The interesting part to fix will be the trim around the doors, as the baseboard is 7 mm thicker than the panel. So, I'll probably need to build up the trim 7 mm above the baseboard on the panel side to make it tight.

Oh right, it becomes a problem if you want to add another floor on top. I have laid a new wooden floor before, so it'll be a while before I get there...
