Hello!
I am about to install trim/moldings in an entire house where the majority of the walls consist of plastered (2cm thick) lightweight concrete or gypsum on steel studs/tracks.

Does it work to fasten the moldings with a 50mm brad nailer? I was thinking of buying a Makita AF505 or a similar nailer.

If not, what should I do then? Drill and plug? Glue?

Out of sheer curiosity, did you attach lists with dyckert in lightweight concrete? Did it work? 😊

Sure, it has worked well overall. It's just a strip that has come off a bit, but it's mostly because I didn't use long enough brad nails on that strip and it has also taken a beating from vacuums etc.

I angled the brads a little in different directions to fasten the strip properly.

Interesting, then I will try the same!

....but you secure the moldings to the ceiling. When I build, I make sure there are battens in the ceiling along all the walls, so there's something to nail into. If you don't have wood to nail into there, under the plaster, I would glue the moldings in place. Then caulk against the wall and ceiling.

My walls are not quite thick plaster, but they are made of lightweight concrete, and the nail gun works surprisingly well. I have the impression that the nails bend when they go into the plaster and hold better because of that.
