Thank you Nik206, the underlying OSB board is attached in the corners with 4 screws, all hitting the studs. The question is the mounting of the wall bracket into the OSB board.

But that's nothing that a little burger and beer can't fix, right?

Using expanders etc. when you have OSB or plywood to screw into is just uneducated. Completely unnecessary. OSB is made to screw into and works excellently for that purpose. It is unfortunate that you receive such poor advice at the hardware store.

Personally, I hang my kitchen cabinets on OSB with 6mm wood screws. 2-3 per cabinet. They hold excellently even though they are well-loaded.

Seems almost impossible to find 6mm wood screws without a countersink that are threaded all the way up. Don't these exist at regular hardware stores?

Nevermind found here now

Unless the TV weighs over 100 kg, you can comfortably go down in size. You don't need such long screws either! I would probably go for good old mounting screws in your situation, simple, fast, and does the job excellently.

Nik206 - The TV mount is rotatable - therefore, I was thinking of hitting the rule even when mounting against the OSB board on the side of the OSB board that will bear the most weight - therefore, I was thinking of having fairly long screws there. But I've found them now - thanks!

Bauhaus sells Essve, so you'll find good screws there. Buy an assortment box while you're at it.....

Does anyone know how much edge pressure OSB can withstand?

There - TV up, feels like it's rock solid, and it turned out really discreet with a painted OSB board. The mounting ended up being:

OSB to wall: 4 pcs 6x55 wood screws into the studs
Wall mount to OSB: On the side where I hit the studs: 2 pcs 6x55 wood screws, on the other side and in the middle a mix of 4.2x55 installation screws and 6x40 wood screws.

It really feels like you could stand on the TV without any problem.

Thanks for the help to everyone who gave tips and suggestions!

I skimmed through the thread and didn't find an important point.
Don't overtighten the screw, as the threads in the wooden board will disappear and the screw won't sit properly.

And that's the case with everything, but I think OSB is a bit more sensitive in that regard.

Thank you - I will think about it!

I'm hijacking the thread a bit - I'm planning to hang up three kitchen cabinets to use as media cabinets on a wall with gypsum (6mm) + OSB. I bought mounting screws today, 12 pieces of 5*25mm. I'm going to use the hanging rail from Ikea to hang the cabinets on, and I'm also planning to have a support leg under each cabinet for some relief (placed in the middle of the cabinet so as not to be visible).

I would gladly receive comments on my proposed fastening solution... I'm a bit worried that the screws might be too short, but 6+12=18mm and more than 5mm isn't needed to hang up the rail that the cabinets will hang on.

Should go... but I probably would have wanted 5*40 myself to be sure that they go through the entire dimension of the screw.

Hello, it should work without any problems whatsoever. Ikea's wall rail has pre-drilled holes every 5 cm or so!

As long as you feel it holds, and DOESN'T pull too far.
