TV on OSB
Question about this - I want to attach an OSB board to the outer wall, securing it to the studs. What kind of screw should I use to attach the bracket to the OSB board? The screw only "bites" through the OSB board, so it shouldn't be too long, or am I thinking wrong?
You got quite long lag screws with the wall bracket, but they shouldn't be used, right?

Corre - it should be quite a sturdy screw that's not just partially threaded, right? Are there French wood screws that are threaded all the way up?
Thanks MathiasA - testing it.
4 assembly screws at 4.2*90mm will last longer than the OSB board...
So basically anything that is at least ⌀4.2*60 without countersinking will hold.
French are just troublesome and overkill, need to pre-drill and harder to fasten.

Since I don't have OSB boards in my walls, I was thinking of placing an OSB in front of my TV and then need a threaded rod or 4 of them so the board doesn't fall down, as the TV hasn't had the sense to do so in these 5 years it's been mounted on the drywall with 2 molly bolts. A 42" LCD that probably weighs a little since it is so old (5 years).
OSB in front of the TV, that's a good idea. There's so much crap on TV nowadays that this is probably the best solution.cecar33 said:Since I don't have OSB boards in my walls, I thought I would put an OSB in front of my TV and then I need a threaded rod or 4 of them so the board doesn't fall down, because the TV hasn't had the sense to do that in these 5 years it's been mounted on the plasterboard wall with 2 molly bolts. I see now that there are a couple of Frenchies providing the actual mount, but a few washers + 4.2 mounting screws should work just as well?
Thanks for the response!

For anyone who doesn't know what to use for getting a very good grip in gypsum, I just want to say - PLATTIPLUGG - it is unbeatable in gypsum. It is far superior to, for example, a molly plug and many, many times superior to a plastic plug regardless of type. The downside might be the price, but if you only need a few, it's hardly a problem. It can, of course, be used on any sheet material.
