We have a sunroom where the window sections are placed on top of a board that lies directly against the concrete slab. The concrete slab is tiled both inside and outside, see picture.

The board under the window sections has become water damaged over the years, and now water runs into the sunroom under/through the board when it rains. The pillars supporting the roof over the sunroom stand directly on the water-damaged board, resulting in them absorbing some moisture through the end grain.

One of this summer's many projects is to address this. The simplest option might be to replace the board with a treated board that might last 10 years and replace the pillars.

The question is whether there are other good solutions and how to do this best. Should one place a sill gasket between the slab and the board? Should the tiles outside the sunroom be removed and new ones laid with better sloping? Should the board be protected with metal on the outside?

Grateful for tips and ideas.
