Hello.
I am about to build a swing door for the garage. What I'm considering is whether the panel will warp.

From the inside out.
Thin plywood.
Material for the frame will be 45*70 which I will split and use.
Insulation in the form of foam.
1mm security sheet.
Panel that I will plane down.
Kick plate.

Since there are different materials, I wonder if the panel will warp.
Does anyone have any input?

I’m a few weeks ahead in time as I'm waiting for some parts for the planer. Also need to arrange for some longer lunches at work, which isn’t always the easiest!
 
Maybe make the frame in 50x50x2 square steel instead? However, it requires welding skills and equipment. The advantage is that it becomes lighter, stronger, and it doesn't warp. It also fits well with 50mm frigolit for this.

I can weld, I've done it a bit, but unfortunately, I don't have a welder. I'll think about it a bit!

Now let's say the frame is made of 50x50x2 spot-welded to 1 mm intrusion steel, perforated or not, I don't know yet, on the outside. Does it work to glue the panel to the steel?

If I drill into the profile for the lock case, do I need to weld a reinforcement plate on the inside of the profile? Otherwise, the case will only have 50 mm of edge as support.

I'll bounce the idea around a bit!

The downside is the thermal bridge that the steel constitutes.

The plywood takes care of that. I have such a construction. (from inside) Plywood, steel, security plate, plywood. I haven't noticed any heat leakage on the outside of the door during winter. It's attached, after all, to a garage/workshop at 15°.

Absolutely, but I don't think the finance minister likes my purchases!
Bought a plane & straightedge and chip vacuum 1 week ago.
Have my partner at home with 2 small kids, not too much money left after all the bills and purchases for the house, which is being frequently renovated.

The welder is a tool that I need about once a year.

Mikael L, if it becomes a 4-sided profile then I thought about filling up the profile with foam, the thermal bridge decreases.

Don’t spot weld the sheet metal. With such a thin steel profile, you will bend it due to the heat and need to straighten it. Let the sheet metal float behind the plywood and screw everything together with regular countersunk screws.
I have installed external Fix-locks for doors including regular lock cylinders.
