Went and bought a bunch of vangstycken from Byggmax.
When I was about to start assembling them, I noticed that both the step height and step depth vary on basically all of them. Is it common for it to be like this?
It will at least be difficult to build a level and plumb staircase with these.

How much does it differ?

On one, the top step depth was 23.5cm, the rest were around 24.5cm.
Otherwise, there was less difference on the others, but they weren't the same measurements. I'll send a picture.
If this is how it usually is, I'm thinking it might be better to make my own.

There was a bit of a difference, I bought mine at Bauhaus and they were perfect.

Bought 6 sjustegs at Byggmax of their own brand for three streckor. All have been sufficiently accurate and without as large a difference you have.

I never thought I would need to double-check measurements at the lumberyard.
Byggmax doesn't accept any returns on their timber. Maybe it's possible to file a complaint..

I would definitely file a complaint if I were you. I will also double-check next time I buy there!

Went to Byggmax yesterday and bought plasterboards, very poor pricing labeling and I was supposed to get boards for 64.95 each, but the seller claimed I had taken boards that cost 78.65 each. I had to fight to prove I was right. On top of everything, he even wanted to look through the car. It will be a long time before I set foot there again.

Yes, it's not great shopping there, but sometimes I end up shopping there anyway. Yes, both at Byggmax and Bauhaus, they want to conduct a search of the car when you're leaving.

There is a huge difference between Byggmax in Eskilstuna and Byggmax in Västerås.

I will not set foot in the store in Eskilstuna again. The staff is extremely rude and does everything except their job. Smoking always comes first is their slogan. Always empty at the checkout the last times I've been there with unnecessary waiting.

Byggmax Västerås, on the other hand, is miles ahead in their approach to customers and also in order and tidiness in the store.

However, I mostly shop at Beijer Eskilstuna, though it's tougher on weekends there...
Beijer's online store + pickup service is fantastic and free. Just announce your arrival, drive in the trailer, and get it loaded. 10% discount via villaägarna and that membership I got for free for two years from the electricity supplier.
Highly recommended!
