Hello everyone!
I am renovating our kitchen and have a small question regarding joining gypsum boards. I have used a "finer" and cut out "plates" of gypsum in a few places, including stud to stud cc60. The reason is that I had to install noggings to have something to attach my kitchen hood to, as there was single gypsum in the outer wall which is the wall in question.
I was planning to use leftover 11 mm OSB that I will cut to overlap where I'm reinstalling the gypsum, between the studs.
My questions are:
1. Is it okay to use 11 mm OSB or should one use something thinner like 6 mm plyfa? I definitely don't want to compress the insulation too much, or does 11 mm fall within the "margin"?
2. Is it okay to attach these, if I'll call them OSB patches, towards the room side against the gypsum board, that is, outside the moisture barrier (in towards the room) or should they be attached inside the moisture barrier towards the insulation where the wooden studs are? That would be more problematic.
Does it matter in this case? I am fully aware that it is important to have the moisture barrier as intact as possible when I'm done, and that's why I have bought age-resistant construction tape to tape back the plastic I cut out.

Grateful for any help I can get!

I hope someone understands what I mean....;)

It's fine to use the OSB if you have some at home. And it's also fine to place it on the warm side of the vapor barrier, there's no reason to hassle with getting it on the other side.

Great! Thanks for the help! I suspected it wouldn't be a problem with my 11 mm OSB, but it's always good to ask before everything is in place again ;). I have a little bit of knowledge but not enough when it comes to handling an exterior wall with diffusion barriers, insulation etc. I might be too picky, but that's just how I am ;)
