No, I bought the right lumber. Quite nice råspont was what I wanted. Regular paneling wouldn't have suited my house.

You simply bought the wrong lumber.
Tongue-and-groove planking can definitely have its place visibly. My brother has painted tongue-and-groove planking on the ceiling in a couple of rooms, and it looks really nice. It becomes a bit rustic but still light and fresh, in his case a panel would not have given the same pleasant impression. But sure; you have to sort a bit more among the pallets when buying it.

But at least it's not time to complain about the quality. One has bought a Bruksbo circular saw, shouldn't expect Festool quality then.

Now it was exactly as haavard actually wrote, "but since råspont is meant for something else it was just a matter of putting on a happy face."
