Seal an interior door in a concrete wall
Hello!
I'm planning to remove a door in a concrete wall (9x21). Initially, I thought of framing and drywalling the opening, but from what I understand, there's a high risk of cracking. The best option seems to be to block up the opening with concrete blocks and plaster. However, the problem is that I have chipboard flooring that I can't tear up. Is it possible to build the wall directly on the chipboard?
I read somewhere that it's possible to minimize cracking by using something called fiberboard and steel studs. Does anyone have experience with this?
Regards!

it is the meeting of new materials against the concrete wall that cracks (if it does).M MartinClaesson said:Hi!

to guarantee not to. repair fabric or thin plasterboard on the entire wall.
if you brick. you may still see where the hole has been. you do not get the same structure on filler/plaster.
and if it's not the structure, you can see it in the color on the wall.
Thanks for the reply!
Yes, it's an interior wall. There is a concrete slab a bit below the floor. Okay, so I can plaster the hole and then put renovation fabric on the wall as protection against cracking?
Best regards
