I'm planning to extend the summer cottage with an approximately 3.5m wide extension, in Jämtland. I'm now sketching the roof trusses that I will build myself. I'm thinking of screwing planks instead of metal brackets, something like 145 and 95 or whatever is available at the lumberyard.
Which is more suitable, the upper or lower truss? (45x145 in both trusses) Or does anyone have a drawing of a similar size truss? The roofing sheet I'm going to use is 2.5m, will it fit well, you think?
At such a short span of 3.5 m, a truss solution is hardly needed. But otherwise, in general, the lower image is best, but it must be supplemented with a vertical brace (regel) from the ridge straight down to the bottom chord.
Or only a vertical brace in the middle.
That's how the roof truss book calculated my trusses for both the small shed and the garage. 2.5 and 4 meters span respectively.
In this post, there's a picture where the truss is visible, also a few posts further down and a drawing in post #2.
