Repair holes in wind barrier?

Hello,

I am going to move my air source heat pump and therefore need to deal with the hole in the exterior wall, which is made of siding. I would prefer not to replace more than necessary, so the question is, can you patch the wind barrier where there's a hole instead of stapling to the studs, and if so, with what?

I'll throw in a follow-up question as well:

All interior walls are from '79 and made of chipboard; the whole house is more or less a chipboard box. If the hole has a diameter of, say, 100mm, what is best to use to fill it? I'm thinking of a small stud to screw into the back of the chipboard, then put in a patch piece and fill, but to be able to fill and paint it nicely, should I preferably use gypsum, chipboard, or something else?

I should have taped the pappen, there is special tape that holds better than, for example, duct tape on it

For the hole, maybe it's easiest to screw in two pieces (each goes in separately but together they seal it) ?
Is that what you mean ?

Husfix might work if you need to fill more than what putty can handle, or if you cut a piece of board material/gypsum...

Cut out a piece of material the same size as the hole, slide a bit of stud through the hole and screw it to the wall, then screw the cut-out piece onto the stud. Then fill and sand until smooth, then paint.

If you have tape left over, you can use it to wrap Christmas presents. It's quite amusing to watch someone try to open a package like that .

Age-resistant tape I have on hand and I was considering the same method with the hole on the inside, mostly puzzled whether plaster or wood is preferable when the wall is made of chipboard? Or does it not really matter?

I think it doesn't matter, it will be a spackelklump anyway.
