We are in the process of tearing out closets in the house to replace them with other storage.

When we dismantled these, we found two gaps of about 50mm, one in the wall towards the attic space and one in the ceiling towards the attic.

There is a vapor barrier and insulation behind.

Is it something structural or just not closed for some reason?

  • Empty closet space with wooden floor, missing panels on the side and top, and a black step stool in front. Visible plaster debris on the floor.
  • Gap in the wall and ceiling revealed after removing closets, showing insulation and vapor barrier, about 50mm wide, against attic walls.
It has no function. It just ended up like that, and no attention was paid where it is not visible.

Thanks, then I'll leave it when I install new wardrobes which will suffice in the same place on the ceiling and put plaster in front of it on the wall so there will be visible space in the future. 👍
