Not at all, just get a step measurer so you can measure each step and then cut out each step exactly to fit your staircase. If you get Stepkit you will receive one they call "Stepcopy" and then it's just a matter of cutting from their prepared steps. Simple and convenient!
 
Too complicated for me to use a stair gauge for my curved staircase. I know my limits when it comes to carpentry. Unfortunately.

Now all the trim is in place, and we've wallpapered the entire staircase! And yesterday, I finally put up the lighting. Two lamps on the side plus LED strips under the picture ledges on the wall. It actually creates quite cozy lighting!

It's nice that it's really finished. Or well, there's always some "oh right" that gets added, but I'm really satisfied!
