Hello
I live in a 70s house with a U-shaped staircase with a landing that I would like to remodel.
I would like to remove all the balusters and create a new railing that stands on the stringer.
How much do the balusters affect the durability of the construction?
I am mainly thinking about the balusters that are between the upper and lower stringers.
Best regards, Tomas

Wooden U-shaped staircase in a 1970s house featuring banisters and a half-landing. Clothing hung nearby; tools visible on the steps and floor.

I would spontaneously say nothing without seeing much from the picture. The upper staircase rests well on the landing? And the lower one is also attached to the landing?

Hello
It's completely correct that the upper staircase is attached both to the upper floor and the landing.
But the staircase has 8 steps so I was wondering if it would become a bit springy and creaky...

Eleven years later but I'm trying anyway.

How did the stairs work out?
I have a similar one and am also considering removing the spjälorna.
